Car Security Example
(Hackers Remotely Kill a Jeep on the Highway…With Me in It!!)
In an Automobile security application example, assume the car manufacturer is concerned about digital hacking of the car, and in particular safety and life critical sensors installed on the car. To achieve that, every critical sensor of the car will be equipped with a “Nano IC Smart Tag”. The “Electronic Control Unit” (ECU) onboard the car will also be equipped with “Nano IC Reader” chip. These devices, while enormously powerful and power conscious, are extremely small with minuscule footprints.
Data/information from the sensor thus will be encrypted and authenticated by these two chips and the ECU will be informed of its authenticity which would act upon the received information accordingly.
